L'Arte della Presenza: Ritornare al Qui e Ora
(The Art of Presence: Returning to the Here and Now)
[English] How many times during the day does our mind find itself traveling elsewhere? Often we are physically in one place, but our thoughts are chased by the shadows of the past or anxieties about a future that has yet to unfold. This continuous mental whirling is the main source of stress and dissatisfaction in modern life. We forget that the only real moment, the only space in which we can breathe, choose, and be happy, is precisely this one: the here and now.
Returning to the present does not require titanic efforts, but an act of pure and conscious intention. It means stopping, even if only for a moment, and anchoring oneself to the surrounding reality. When we learn to live in the present, our perception changes: material problems reduce their weight, and we manage to tune into a frequency of deep inner calm. Presence is the fertile ground upon which every form of spiritual growth and psychological well-being rests.
To help you find this balance during your day, I invite you to practice this simple and short guided visualization. You can do it wherever you are: Sit comfortably and close your eyes. Take a deep breath, exhaling slowly to release all tension. Now, visualize a warm, golden light igniting in the center of your chest. With each breath, this light slowly expands, enveloping your entire body like a protective shell of pure serenity. Feel the weight of your body resting on the chair or the ground; listen to the sounds around you without judging them. If a thought enters your mind, let it drift away like a cloud in the sky. Remain in this space of silence and light for a few minutes, savoring the certainty that, at this exact moment, everything is fine and you are exactly where you need to be.
